Meanwhile, in Brent, north London, comes another example of what Jonathan Calder meant when he talked about how the Liberal Democrats need more good third places. Or, as in the previous time I mentioned this, second place in fact:

Moving up clearly ahead of rivals for the Liberal Democrats previous role as the third party in British politics is an important step in the party’s recovery, and results such as these show that is very do-able. One step on the road, but a step very much in the right direction.
