Launceston Central (Cornwall) result:
LDEM: 63.0% (-7.9)
CON: 27.6% (+10.4)
GRN: 7.9% (+7.9)
CPA: 1.5% (+1.5)— Britain Elects (@britainelects) January 14, 2016
A mid-January by-election meant the local Liberal Democrat team had to put up with a lot of rain and not that much daylight for its campaign, making them deserving of an extra round of congratulations.

“Local Lib Dem councillors like Adam Paynter and Jade Farrington have an excellent track record of standing up for the town. Like them, I wish to fight for Launceston,” she said…
The by-election was caused by the resignation in November of Cornwall Council’s former finance chief Alex Folkes. [Cornish Guardian]
That cause of the by-election made this a particularly tricky defence.
