Improving road safety, the musical way
Now pedestrian crossings might not always make roads safer, so here is a possible way to do it with music:

Here’s a bit more on the background to what Japan has done with musical roads:
The system was the brainchild of Shizuo Shinoda, who accidentally scraped some markings into a road with a bulldozer before driving over them and realising that they helped to produce a variety of tones. [The Guardian]
