Great by-election win for Lib Dems, and continued progress elsewhere
Cracking result in Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron‘s constituency last night in a local council by-election:
Kendal Strickland & Fell (Cumbria) result:
LDEM: 59.9% (+7.8)
LAB: 17.2% (-9.7)
CON: 9.7% (-0.5)
GRN: 7.2% (+7.2)
UKIP: 6.0% (-3.9)— Britain Elects (@britainelects) March 10, 2016
Meanwhile, in Theresa May’s constituency there was a small swing to the Lib Dems too:
Maidenhead Riverside (Windsor & Maidenhead) result:
CON: 53.4% (+4.5)
LDEM: 23.2% (+7.7)
IND: 9.5% (+9.5)
LAB: 8.4% (-4.3)
UKIP: 5.5% (-5.7)— Britain Elects (@britainelects) March 10, 2016
A welcome continuation of the pattern of Liberal Democrat progress in council by-elections.
Also to note, voters in Bath and North East Somerset have rejected the idea of getting a directly elected Mayor:
Bath and North East Somerset mayoral referendum, result:
For: 20.9% (8,054)
Against: 79.1% (30,557)— Britain Elects (@britainelects) March 11, 2016
Ballot box in the #BANESreferendum has just arrived with ONE ballot paper! (from Bath Spa uni I understand). Democracy in action!
