Rother Council by-elections capture current Lib Dem health in miniature
The big by-election news this week has all been on the Parliamentary front, with the Richmond Park by-election now confirmed for 1 December.
On the principal local authorities front there are just three council by-elections, two of which are in the same council. The Lib Dem picture is typically patchy in that pair – big vote increase in one, no candidate inn the other. Although both saw a halving in the Ukip vote:

CON: 28.8% (+7.1)
LAB: 6.4% (+0.1)

CON: 43.5% (+1.9)
LDEM: 31.4% (+14.8)
LAB: 9.6% (-0.6)
GRN: 8.4% (-6.6)

Elsewhere it was good to see a Lib Dem candidate this time round:

LAB: 48.0% (-2.4) HOLD
CON: 22.4% (+8.3)
IND (Shone): 13.3% (+13.3)
IND (Webster): 10.1% (+10.1)
