Lib Dems win council seat in Somerset off independents, beating Conservatives
Seven seats up for election across six wards in this week’s council by-elections. Five of those six wards have a Liberal Democrat candidate, the same ratio as the last time they were contested.
Here are the results as they come:
Syston West (Charnwood) result:
CON: 44.7% (-6.4)
GRN: 42.8% (+19.4)
LAB: 12.5% (-13.0)Conservative HOLD.

Liberal Democrat GAIN Norton, Fitzwarren & Staplegrove (Somerset West & Taunton) from Independent with 54% (+18) of votes.
CON were 2nd on 39% (+21), GRN 3rd on 5% (-13) & LAB 4th on 2% (-5).

Whitchurch & Tongwynlais (Cardiff) result:
CON: 36.4% (-4.5)
LAB: 28.0% (-10.0)
PC: 15.9% (+2.3)
LDEM: 13.9% (+6.3)
GRN: 5.8% (+5.8)Conservative HOLD.

Clacton East (Essex) result:
IND: 36.9% (+36.9)
CON: 36.6% (+5.4)
HSEM: 16.1% (+16.1)

There was a by-election yesterday for two seats in one ward on Aberdeen City Council. The count starts at 10am.
in the other results this week none scored over 50%.. OURS DID so it is a true win with a rightful claim to a ‘mandate’ from the voters..
