Immigration: the key details in the latest statistics
Net immigration is down.
It’s down overwhelmingly due to fewer people coming to the UK (rather than due to more people leaving the UK).
That fall is mainly due to a decline in student numbers – yet the number coming to our universities has gone up. As Paul Waugh explains:
